Originally a hunting ground, Yala has been a sanctuary for wildlife since 1900. Today it is Sri Lanka’s second largest park and its most popular – when you see the stars of the show, it’s easy to see why! Encompassing a variety of ecosystems, from grassy plains to forest and lagoons to beaches, Yala has the highest density of leopards in the world, and that’s just to start with!
