Cruise the Huangpu River on a holiday to China
Splitting the city in two, the Huangpu River is one of Shanghai’s many busy highways, always full of trading ships, tourist boats and traditional sampans. A cruise on the river is an easy way to see the city from a new angle, as well as all of the new construction – taking to the water at night is a whole different atmosphere, with the thousands of bright lights of the towering skyscrapers twinkling in the water. It also gives you a chance to see.
Between the two suspension bridges Nanpu and Yangpu is the most striking art of the river. On the west bank, Puxi, are the majestic Art Deco edifices of the Bund whilst on the east bank is Pudong with its futuristic high-rise architecture. From the river you can stand and see Shanghai’s past and its future facing off across the water.
