Japan Christmas Holidays

Celebrating 25 Years of tour excellence
Although not a national holiday in Japan, Christmas is a great time of year to explore this wonderful and diverse destination. The cold, dry weather means the countryside is often blanketed with fresh snow while in the cities you’ll find gorgeous illuminations to mark the festive period, with restaurants, shopping malls and public areas draped in the most incredible displays of lights that will get you in the Christmas mood. In Japan, Christmas is for couples (Christmas Eve is the Japanese version of Valentine’s Day) and for getting together with friends and going out for dinner. Families also indulge in a fun Japanese tradition – getting together to feast on KFC for Christmas dinner (unfortunately not included on our tours) followed by a strawberry shortcake Christmas cake.

This tour showcases the bright lights of Tokyo and Osaka, magnificent Mount Fiji and the beautiful Himeji Castle and includes many immersive experiences to help you connect with the Japanese culture, such as soba noodle making, origami classes and a Geisha encounter.

Christmas Eve is spent immersed in the charms of historic Kyoto where you’ll enjoy a traditional tea ceremony and special festive feast. On Christmas Day you’ll get to soak up the beauty of the spectacular Golden Temple, Kinkakuji, maybe with a magical frosting of snow, before boarding an iconic bullet train to Hiroshima where you’ll enjoy a scenic Christmas dinner cruise on Hiroshima Bay, with the twinkling lights of the city your backdrop.
