The perfect cone of the 2652-metre Volcan Osorno towers over the azure lakes of Chile’s beautiful Lake District. At the centre of the Vicente Perez National Park, Osorno remains snow-capped year-round, its lower slopes thickly forested and perfect for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. On the shores of Lake Llanquihue, Osorno is an active volcano, last erupting in 1869. The close by Petrohue Falls are also worth a visit.
