Wander amongst the many statues scattered across the volcanic slopes before arriving at Ahu Tongariki, where 15 magnificent restored moai stand proudly overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Later, visit Te Pito Kura, a site steeped in legend and known as the Navel of the World', before ending the day at the golden sands of Anakena Beach, where restored moai create one of the island's most memorable settings.

Continue to the museum for a fascinating introduction to Rapa Nui's geology, archaeology and cultural heritage before visiting Hanga Roa's church and artisan market. See how traditional Rapa Nui culture remains part of everyday island life as you explore the island's only town. This afternoon, discover Ahu Akivi, where seven restored moai are said to represent the legendary explorers sent by King Hotu Matua.
