Celebrating 25 Years of tour excellence
Close

A country well known for its high quality of life and the concept of ‘hygge’, the concept of cosy living, Denmark holidays are packed with nature, history, culture and cuisine. The smallest Scandinavian country, split across two islands and a spit that attaches it to mainland Europe, Denmark doesn’t boast the epic landscapes of Norway and Sweden. What it does have, however, is charming countryside dotted with timeless villages, fairytale castles and Viking ruins, small and chic cities, and a wonderful warm and laidback ambience that makes it a delight to explore. The sweeping coastlines, on the North and Baltics seas, harbour a strong maritime legacy and white sandy beaches that have been called ‘Europe’s best kept secret’.

Considered a cultural powerhouse, it is easy to immerse yourself in Danish culture in its compact cities and excellent museums. Copenhagen, the elegant capital, is well-known for its impeccable design and architecture that ranges from ancient castles to experimental office blocks. It is here that you can really enjoy Denmark’s foodie credentials (the city has 21 Michelin-starred restaurants) and some of its most famous attractions – the beautiful old centre, the National Museum and Tivoli World, one of the world’s oldest amusement parks.

Denmark Highlights

Copenhagen

Denmark’s capital is centred around its historic harbour and a maze of cobbled streets, elegant squares and colourful buildings. Founded as a Viking fishing village, Copenhagen is home to Amalienborg Palace, the Rosenborg Castle and the famous Nyhavn waterfront.

Aarhus & Odense

Denmark’s second-largest city, Aarhus is a historic port on the east coast of Jutland with a history dating back to the Viking Age.

The birthplace of famous Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, Odense is one of Denmark’s oldest cities, with a history dating back more than 1,000 years. The historic centre contains colourful houses, cobbled streets and sites connected to Andersen’s life, including his childhood home and museum.

Hirtshals

Set on Denmark’s northern coast, Hirtshals is a small fishing and ferry port overlooking the Skagerrak, the sea passage between Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The town is known for its long sandy beaches, fishing harbour and Hirtshals Lighthouse, which has stood on the coast since 1863.
