Save up to £700 per person on our three new incredible tours to Chongqing with our Partner Flies Free for couples and half price single supplements for solo travellers.
For a glimpse of old Chongqing, head a little way down the Jialing River to Ciqikou, formerly a busy port and centre of porcelain production. Here you’ll find narrow streets of beautifully restored Ming-era (1368-1644) buildings and tiny storefronts, perfect for strolling. While the main street can get busy, its easy to find a more villagey feel by simply stepping away down one of the maze-like alleys, still very much lived in today. Stop by the 1,500 year old Baolun Temple to admire the architecture – it is said to have been built without a single nail.
Once full of teahouse, porcelain factories and merchants going about their business, Ciqikou’s location is said to have the perfect feng shui, with an auspicious geographical setting, something that its historical success has been attributed to, so soak up the harmony of human and nature as you explore!
