Yulong River

Discover the Yulong River on a holiday to China

Close

A tributary of the Li, the Yulong River is a small water course that passes close to Yangshuo. Stretching about 22 miles, it’s jade-green waters are rich with fish. The scenery that the Yulong flows through is some of China’s most gorgeous; from your vantage point on the water you’ll see rolling hills, verdant greenery, orchards and bamboo forests that stretch as far as the eye can see.

The local cormorant fishermen are often seen floating on their handmade bamboo rafts which only adds to the idyllic nature of this scenic paradise. Tranquillity is easily found here as motorised boats are not allowed to travel its length, leaving the water as perpetually calm as the surrounding landscapes. The perfect way to experience the Yulong is by bamboo raft, the traditional means of navigating its waters – the perfect way to enjoy a different pace from the bustle of normal life.
