The town of Monteverde is the base from which to explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Located up in the Cordillera de Tilarán the town offers a cool climate and relaxed pace. Originally founded by Quakers from the US, the population of Monteverde take huge pride in the nature that surrounds them making it one of Costa Rica’s premier eco-tourism destinations. As well as the cloud Forest reserve there is also a charming Butterfly Garden where you can see many endemic species in their full glory.
