Head to the New Delhi railway station to board the Shatabadi Express bound for Chandigarh. Upon arrival, transfer to Shimla, home to India’s most beloved hill station that significantly eased access to the region. In the late afternoon, enjoy a walking tour of Shimla, starting at the Christ Church. Go on to visit The Mall Road, explore The Ridge, and visit Scandal Point.
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic ride on the narrow-gauge mountain railway, known as the toy train. Disembark and drive back to Shimla. After lunch, hike to Jakhoo Temple, the highest point in Shimla, offering panoramic views of the city. Enjoy Glen Forest, one of the area’s oldest known picnic spots, surrounded by beautiful pine and deodar trees.
This morning, visit the Vice-Regal Lodge, also known as the ‘Rashtrapati Niwas,’ located on Observatory Hill. This magnificent building was once the residence of British Viceroy Lord Dufferin. Completed in 1888, the six-story lodge was constructed with each brick carried by mules. Surrounded by well-maintained gardens and lawns, the lodge has now been converted into the Institute of Advanced Study. After the visit, you will be transferred to Chandigarh railway station for your train journey to Amritsar
Embark on a tour of Amritsar, starting at the renowned Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib. Nearby is the Durgiana Temple, modelled after the Golden Temple. Next, visit Jallianwala Bagh, the site of the infamous massacre that took place in 1919 during the Baisakhi festival. Explore the park that commemorates the Indians who were killed and wounded here. In the evening, visit the Wagah Border, the border between India and Pakistan, to witness the exuberant flag-lowering ceremony.
An early morning start as you transfer to the railway station for your train to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi you will transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
