Sumatran Rainforest Trek

Trek deep into the lush rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park in search of orangutans and other native wildlife. Guided by local experts, explore jungle trails alive with the sounds of gibbons, hornbills and monkeys while learning about one of Southeast Asia’s most important rainforest ecosystems.

    Fly overnight to Medan, the gateway to North Sumatra. On arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure before this evening’s welcome dinner and briefing.

    Explore local life in Medan on a motorised becak tour, visiting Deli Tua Market and a local home industry producing traditional snacks and cakes. Later, continue by road to Bukit Lawang, passing villages and palm oil plantations along the way.

    Day 4: Gunung Leuser National Park

    Rise early for a guided trek through Gunung Leuser National Park, searching for orangutans and other rainforest wildlife beneath the dense jungle canopy. Later, visit a local market before joining a hands-on cooking class to prepare traditional North Sumatran dishes.
