Majestic Yangtze

Alison was a fantastic guide, managing a group of 15 very different people. Alison’s English was excellent and was always on hand to help with any issues 24/7. She made it very clear when we had things to do, what we needed to prepare and where we were going next.

Alison is wonderfully energetic and good fun to be around, she taught us Mahjong while we were on the Yangtze cruise. A precious experience to learn mahjong in China with new friends. Thank you to Alison and all of our local guides who helped us in each location we arrived in.

Our Majestic Yangtze tour was awesome, and packed a great deal into a short space of time (2 weeks).

We did all the must see and must do activities in China such as visiting Shanghai, travelling by bullet train, cruising on the Yangtze River, seeing the Chengdu Pandas and Xian Terracotta Warriors up close and of course walking the Great Chinese Wall early in the morning with beautiful blue skies above.

In addition, on one of the optional tours, we visited the Tribe of the Three Gorges. The scenery was spectacular, the tribe guide, costumes, ships, monkeys and crying marriage show were spectacular, such a memorable highlight for us.

What a fantastic tour and experience, thank you to all at Wendy Wu!

This was our first tour and we were extremely impressed by the organisation and the standards. The size of our group (19) was not overwhelming and allowed us to get to know our fellow travellers well. Our guide Jason was absolutely outstanding at his job. He was caring and knowledgeable with a good sense of humour, which added to the experience.

Tour was very well organised and we were very well looked after .Be prepared for all day on your feet with only a break for lunch most days,so can be quite tiring.
Additional cost shows are very unique and enjoying so well worth attending.
Jack our guide was fabulous and went above and beyond to help everyone in the group .

Our Tour: average
The Holiday locations were outstanding. The Organisation was a mixed bag, with most of the local Guides being Excellent, however one guide was not at all fit to be a guide resulting a a older person reduced to tears after getting lost at a crowded rail station due to his lack of attention. Food was the biggest disappointment, same dishes and mundane taste cooked for the western palate, not the good stuff one ate at the local restaurants when the meals were not a part of the package. The National Guide attempted to please but this resulted in individuals influencing the activities that impacted the rest of the group.... A good example of this was the Farewell Dinner, which was held at 16:30 in the afternoon as a individual wanted to go shopping.

Absolutely excellent tour - our national guide Maya was brilliant. She looked after us the whole 2 weeks including giving us some excellent historical context (with perfect English) to China, the culture and the history and making sure we knew what was on the agenda next as well as getting us from place to place by coach, plane, bullet train and boat. The local guides were very knowledgeable adding colour to the different places visited. The tour itself was a great mix of city, historical sites and beautiful natural wonders.

As a returning customer of Wendy Wu Tours, I continue to be really impressed by the level of service they provide. From booking through to returning home, everything is handled professionally and efficiently, which makes the whole experience stress-free.

The itineraries are well planned, striking a great balance between guided tours and free time, and everything runs smoothly throughout. The tour guides are always friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate, which really enhances the trips.

Accommodation, transport, and excursions have all been consistently to a high standard, and it’s clear a lot of thought goes into the details. It’s that reliability and quality that keeps me coming back, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering a trip.

Moroccan Odyssey

Our Tour: Good
This was a very memorable holiday in so many ways, encompassing a huge variety of exciting sights, sounds and experiences. Particularly enjoyable were the visits to the various souks, the tannery, the cookery class, the tile-making factory, and the night in the desert.
There were a couple of downsides which need to be mentioned to give a full picture. On account of the flight schedule of Royal Air Maroc we arrived at our hotel in Rabat extremely late on the first night, which meant we were very tired on our first day of sightseeing. Apparently some of our party were given the option to fly out the day before, so they could have a day at leisure before starting the tour. We were not given that option for some reason.
As it is such a big country there were several days which involved anywhere from 3 to 7 hours just travelling in the minibus, which was not especially enjoyable. On the first occasion we crossed the Atlas mountains, the weather was unexpectedly cold, which made for a pretty unpleasant journey. On other occasions it was uncomfortably hot in the minibus, whose air conditioning system was not particularly effective.
The biggest negative, however, related to the food. It was an all-inclusive holiday which in theory is a good thing. In practice it made for a really monotonous eating experience, and one which caused a good deal of anxiety for me as my dairy intolerance was not particularly well catered-for. Many, many times the menu was exactly the same, be it lunch or dinner: soup or salad for starter, chicken tagine for main, cream caramel or fruit for dessert. Once or twice this would have been fine, but by the end of the holiday I never wanted to see another chicken tagine again! The evening meals were often served very late (8pm or later) and the service was very slow. But the worst thing about it was that several of the travellers, myself included, suffered from gastric issues (explosive diarrhoea) during the tour, which clearly took the shine off the experience. In my case the problem lasted for over a week. On my return to the UK I consulted my GP who took a stool sample and confirmed a CAMPYLOBACTER infection - a notifiable disease. In other words, food poisoning. This has been slow to clear up and has unfortunately left me reluctant to go on an all-inclusive holiday again. My husband has also suffered digestive issues, although his system has blocked up, rather than the opposite problem. On balance, these issues ruined what would otherwise have been a splendid holiday.

We were so lucky with the cherry blossom and a cloudless Mount Fuji but Wendy Wu did the rest. Our guide, Emico, was superb and the places we visited were fascinating and informative.
I’m ready to book my next holiday with Wendy Wu.
